No rhyme or reason… just twelve interesting bits of architecture which caught my eye for one reason or another. Enjoy!

Queen Anne transom sash.

Window grille.

Metal cornice and corrugated translucent fiberglass.

Granite columns with sandstone capitals and plinths. Note that the capitals differ in styling!

A fascinating concrete roof with external trusses!

The corner of this building reveals that the present facade of 1950’s-era pink brick is not the original. Just behind it is the original facade of yellow brick, probably from the 1920’s. The red brick is the side wall.

1930’s drop ceiling and pendant globe light fixture. My first interior photo on Architectural Observer!

1940’s recessed entry of curved glass block, granite and quarry tile.

Spanish Eclectic tile roof.

Some sort of wonderful precast roof with shaped “rafter” tails c. 1960.

Brick wall which had received an addition shortly after initial construction. The work was sporadically toothed into the original portion.

Glorious Art Deco exuberance in masonry and cast aluminum (transom over entry).
Some beautiful details! I never would have noticed that the capitals on the Romanesque arch we’re different if you hadn’t pointed it out. Beautiful and interesting details.
