Every once in a while I run across an interesting example of well-designed door hardware from the mid-20th century. There used to be more, of course, but our culture’s obsession with making everything new again has relegated a lot of it to the landfill or salvage shops well before its utility had been exhausted.
Today I ran across not one, but three interesting door pulls from the not-so-far-away past. They made me happy, so I took photos of them:
This smart diagonal pull has a vibrant red grip and matching red trim around the glass. A mirror-image of the pull is on the other side of the door.
A mid-century favorite, this aluminum pull has stood the test of time.
Probably from the 1940’s, this pull has had the mounting screws replaced… the originals would have been flush with the surface. A good, clean, design for a glass door. The place appears to have been empty for a while… I wonder how long that UPS sticker has been there?

I, too, am an aficionado of mid-century modern door hardware.
The red one is amazing!
