Just a few random images of old houses which have received one or more rearward additions… often resulting in unconventionally proportioned side elevations!

The gabled front of this house remains the principal entry.

This house has had three additions – two of them were garages.

The “boxcar effect”.

The house and original garage, both in the Mission style, have been connected by a hypen styled much like a ranch house.

The walls of a late 19th-centry house of vernacular styling were shingled in conjunction with the Shed style addition dating to the 1970’s.

Not much left in the way of a yard.
