Described on an historical marker as one of the smallest schoolhouses in Nebraska, this late 19th-century frame structure measures just 14 by 16 feet.  Simple structures like this, purely utilitarian and void of architectural styling, are easy to overlook and discount.  However, they tell us much more about our history than the type of historic buildings which often receive the most attention; those which are styled or ornamented in a memorable way.  Increasingly rare, surviving structures such as this must be preserved as their physical presence can convey much more about the past than any written description.

Originally this structure would have had a small chimney to vent a woodburning stove; it was removed at some point prior to the last time the roof was shingled.  Otherwise it appears to be very authentic.
